CaroQuilla’s founder, Maria Valencia was Born in El Salvador and came to Canada at the age of 11. She arrived speaking no English and knew very little of the culture she found herself in. With that experience María has forged in herself a genuine resilience as well as an appreciation of the importance of diversity.
Her journey took a transformative turn when she began working as a leader in Nordstrom’s first Canadian Lingerie Department. There she encountered numerous women struggling with body positivity and the challenge of finding well-fitting, sustainable basics. Inspired by their stories, María envisioned a brand that would empower individuals to feel good in their skin while making environmentally conscious choices.
This vision led to the creation of CaroQuilla, a brand dedicated to designing essential pieces that bring comfort, style, and sustainability while also celebrating all kinds of bodies . With a commitment to using ultra-soft organic bamboo, CaroQuilla offers underwear that is not only kind to the body but also to the planet. María believes that everyone deserves to wear pieces they love to wear every day, and she's passionate about creating a positive impact through fashion.
Outside of her entrepreneurial pursuits, María is a nature enthusiast and animal lover, drawing inspiration from the beauty of the world around her. Through CaroQuilla, she aims to foster a community where self-love, sustainability, and compassion for the planet go hand in hand.
